Foods to Avoid – High Glycemic

We gave you our list of foods to try include in your daily diet, those that are low glycemic and won’t push your blood sugar levels up. Well, here’s a list to avoid or at least use very sparingly.

Vegetables

  • Potato
  • Corn (canned or frozen)
  • Parsnips
  • Winter Squash

Fruits

  • Banana (over ripe)
  • Watermelon
  • Pineapple
  • Pineapple juice

Nuts & Oils

  • Vegetable oil
  • Soy oil
  • Peanut oil
  • Corn oil

Starches

  • Most breads (white/whole grain)
  • Bagels
  • Bread sticks
  • Dinner rolls
  • Kaiser rolls
  • Rice (instant)
  • Tapioca (with milk)
  • Most cereals

While we know it seems a bit strange for us to tell you to avoid eating watermelon or other fruits and vegetables listed above, remember that we are taking the potential of blood sugar levels into account. Control that level and weight control is much more effective!
